Is HubSpot Draining Your Budget?

Is HubSpot draining your budget?

Choosing a CRM and marketing platform is a big decision, and plenty of businesses go straight for the big names like HubSpot. The trouble is that HubSpot's costs climb quickly once you need more contacts, more seats or the features that sit on the higher plans. What looked affordable in year one can turn into a serious monthly bill.

If you're feeling the pinch, it's worth looking at the alternative. This post sets out what HubSpot costs UK businesses now, and how a GoHighLevel setup compares.

The problem with HubSpot's pricing

HubSpot is sold as suitable for businesses of every size, and the Starter plans are cheap. The catch is that the features most growing businesses want, like proper automation and reporting, sit on the Professional and Enterprise plans, and those are priced on seats and marketing contacts.

1. Upgrades get expensive fast

At the time of writing, UK list prices (checked July 2026 by HubSpot partner SpotDev) look like this:

  • Marketing Hub Professional: £702 a month on annual billing (£780 if paid monthly), with 3 seats and 2,000 marketing contacts included.
  • Marketing Hub Enterprise: £3,000 a month, with 5 seats and 10,000 marketing contacts.

Go over your contact allowance and you move up to a higher contact tier, so your bill grows as your list does.

2. Onboarding fees and add-ons

Professional and Enterprise both come with a compulsory one-off onboarding fee, charged when you buy. Extra seats, extra contacts and some add-ons cost more on top.

3. Support usually costs extra

HubSpot has plenty of free learning material, but many businesses still need someone to set it up and help them run it. That usually means paying a HubSpot partner on top of the licence.

How GoHighLevel compares

HighLevel takes a different approach. You pay for the platform, not per contact, and the core features are included rather than locked behind a bigger plan.

1. Flat pricing with unlimited users and contacts

HighLevel's plans include unlimited contacts and users. Add your whole team and grow your database without your bill jumping.

The one thing to budget for is usage. Phone calls, text messages, email sending and the AI features are charged on what you use, so a business sending thousands of texts a month will pay more than one sending a few dozen.

2. One platform, no add-ons for the basics

The core toolkit comes as standard:

  • CRM and sales pipelines
  • Marketing automation and workflows
  • Email and SMS marketing
  • Booking calendars
  • Funnels, landing pages and a website builder
  • Review requests and reputation tools

3. Our plans include the build

Through us, you don't pay for the platform and then pay again for someone to set it up. Our GoHighLevel plans include your HighLevel subscription and the full build of your system, with no upfront fee:

  • Starter, £197 a month: full build, account setup, integrations, funnel and workflow templates, custom automations, and 30 minutes of support each month.
  • Professional, £349 a month: everything in Starter, plus 2 hours of building and updates each month, ongoing support and user training.

Both plans have a 12-month minimum term. Prices exclude VAT, and usage charges for calls and texts are on top.

Is HighLevel right for you?

If you're a small business, coach or agency and HubSpot's costs keep creeping up, it's worth a look. HighLevel was built for smaller businesses, it doesn't charge you more for growing your list, and the features most SMEs need are all included.

It isn't the answer for everyone. If your sales team relies on HubSpot's more advanced enterprise reporting, or you've built a lot of other tools around it, moving takes planning. That's a conversation worth having before you commit.

Make the switch

We'll plan the move with you and build your new system before you switch over. Moving your existing data is quoted separately, because every HubSpot account is different.
